Since our founding in 1965 as Warrick Employees Federal Credit Union – which originally served ALCOA Warrick Operations employees – Heritage has focused on providing affordable financial solutions to its members in the community. Upon expanding into surrounding counties, the company became community-chartered in 1983 and rebranded as Heritage Federal Credit Union in 2003.
Heritage continues its longstanding tradition as a member-focused institution with competitive rates and exceptional service to its members in the community.

Our Mission
At Heritage, our mission is simple – Improve lives; Simplify banking – and that includes improving the lives of our employees, who play an important role in simplifying the banking experience for our members. We hope you’ll feel the pride that comes with being a Heritage member.
Our Footprint
We have branches in Gibson, Posey, Warrick, and Vanderburgh counties in Indiana in addition to locations in Henderson and Daviess counties in Kentucky. Our expanded field of membership spreads throughout surrounding counties in the tri-state area of Indiana, Kentucky, and Illinois.
Our Value as a Credit Union
Unlike other financial institutions, credit unions are not for profit and exist only to serve the financial needs of its members. The focus on membership developed into a “People Helping People” philosophy, an idea that was enthusiastically accepted throughout the United States.
As not-for-profit institutions, credit unions return profit to members in the form of excellent rates on savings and loans and low service fees. Each member may vote to elect the volunteer board members who establish policies regarding shares, loans, investments, and the general operations of the credit union. Today, credit unions constitute a modern, sophisticated financial system, while maintaining the purpose and goal to meet the financial needs of the average consumer.
Like the FDIC provides government-backed insurance for banks, deposits at a credit union are insured by the National Credit Union Association (NCUA). Furthermore, a credit union is owned by its members rather than by shareholders and typically has higher interest rates on deposits and lower interest rates on loans and credit cards than banks.
Our Achievements
At Heritage, our employees have helped us receive a number of awards and recognition year after year – honors that reflect both our culture and our commitment to our members. Heritage has routinely made the list of Best Places to Work in Indiana while also being recognized as a Federal Credit Union of the Year from the National Association of Federal Credit Unions (NAFCU). Chosen among other federal credit unions with $250 million assets or more, Heritage has been honored for financial education initiatives, providing resources to its members and local communities. Other recognition includes MemberXP Best of the Best designations and Readers’ Choice Awards over the years.
